In search of Artists with talent to share.

We would love to hear from you if you would be interested in either an SFArtsED Artist position (working on an arts project in the public school year). Or if you’re an Artist who may wish to participate in our SFArtsED Players musical theater troupe, instruct our After-School programs or teach at SFArtsED Summer.
 
We’re looking specifically for SFArtsED Artists in 

  • Dance (creative movement, modern)
  • Theater
  • World Dance (Capeoira, Hip-Hop, African, Brazilian)
  • Music (Drumming, Rhythms, Orff, Choral)
  • Visual Arts (Mixed media, Ceramics)
  • Musical Theater (Dance, Staging, Theater Direction, Choral Direction)
  • Puppetry
  • Creative writing (elementary school theater/story scenes)

We seek Artists who have demonstrated flexibility and commitment to develop connections with students and the school community. Also key is the development of hands-on visual/performing arts projects that integrate critical thinking, individual learning skills and pride as well as collaborative learning.

Qualifications
- Active in your art form on a professional level.
- Experience teaching visual or performing arts instruction to a diverse group of young people.
- Understanding and knowledge of your art form and the ability to share those concepts with students.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to help build support within the school community.
- Flexibility and insight to strengthen relationship with classroom teachers in addressing classroom goals and needs.
- Openness to receiving feedback from SFArtsED directors on teaching approach.
- Willingness to problem solve with school partners (ie, classroom teacher, principal).

The process: upon receipt of your application packet, the SFArtsED Program Director may be in touch to schedule an in-person interview and possibly schedule a classroom audition. Younger artists may have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced SFArtsED Artist.
